Coming home from camp jonah

Update: Its 5:00pm and we’re in troutdale. It will depend on Portland traffic.

————-

Hello parents,

We are loading everything and getting ready to leave camp Jonah. We hope to be away from here by 3pm. We want to be down to hood river before it starts to get dark (it’s about 25 miles away, but we’ll be slower since we have about 8 inches of snow. Our original goal was to get back to southwest around 5:30. Our actual arrival time will depend on the weather and traffic as we get into Portland. I will keep you posted.

We had a great weekend! You should be very proud of your kids! I can’t wait for them to share with you how they’ve grown.

Thanks, Jeff

Register for Camp Jonah!

It is definitely time to register for the Camp Jonah retreat! It starts in only 2 weeks! We’ll be going to Camp Jonah, in Trout Lake Washington, on January 13-16. That’s over Martin Luther King weekend (there’s no school on Monday, so we get to stay an extra day!). This retreat is by far the most important event for you to go to this school year!

It’s also important for you to turn in your registration forms NOW – because the cost goes up on January 2nd! So fill out the “Camp Jonah registration form” and the “Camp Jonah activities waiver” and turn them into Jeff this Sunday, along with your check.

You can use the forms that are in your Youth Group Newsletter. If you have lost them, you can print them out by clicking on the “Registration Forms” tab above… There is also a copy of the January Newsletter (front page only) with more info about the Camp Jonah retreat.

If you can’t get your forms to Jeff this Sunday (New Year’s Day), please mail them on Monday, January 2, and I’ll still let you go for the lower price. After that, you’ll have to pay the higher price.

So register, ask off from work and then GO and ENJOY! thanks, jeff

Girls/Guys Beach Retreats

Hey everyone, we are leaving for the Beach Retreats later TODAY, Thursday November 10.

Meet at Southwest at 5:30pm. We will load up the luggage and leave around 6:00pm. You need to eat dinner before you get there, we won’t be stopping to eat.

We will provide the main meals, but if you want any snacks you will need to bring them yourself. Don’t forget to bring a sleeping bag and a sweatshirt or coat for when you go to the beach. Also bring your favorite game

We should be back on Sunday afternoon around 3:00-4:00pm. Bring $10 for lunch on the way home.

I can’t wait – it’s gonna be a blast! jeff

Guys and Girls Beach Retreats!

We’ll be going on separate Guys & Girls Beach Retreats on the weekend of November 10-13! That is a Thursday night – Sunday because there is no school on Friday, November 11th (it Veterans Day). That will give us more time together! It’s great staying at the beach and playing together. The girls will be going to Lincoln City and the guys are going to Pacific Beach (where the large sand dune is). We’ll be back on Sunday afternoon around 4:00pm.

The cost will be $40 each. Please fill out the form (either you have it already from the Youth Group News Newsletter, or can get one from the bulletin board across the hall from the church office).

There is limited space, so only the first people to register are guaranteed a spot (others will be put on a waiting list in case someone cancels). So be sure to sign up and pay as soon as you can!

Senior Teen Camp

Hey everyone,

Just a reminder that Senior Teen Camp starts THIS SUNDAY, June 19! I can’t wait! Everyone needs to arrive at the camp for final registration sometime between 3:00-5:00pm.

Since all of us counsellors will already be there, we will not be able to provide a ride out to camp for you teens. Each of you needs to work out a ride to camp with your parents or the parents of a friend… What a lot of families do is carpool with one parent driving out the kids for both families, while the other parent picks them all up. Camp ends on Saturday, June 25, at 10:00am.

If you don’t know how to get to Camp Yamhill, here is the address (for MapQuest, or a GPS): Camp Yamhill 19651 NW Old Railroad Grade Road Yamhill, OR 97148

There are also pretty good directions you can print from their website:

If you’re wondering what to bring (and not bring)…

Bring a sleeping bag, pillow, clothes for both hot and cold weather (sweatshirt for late nights), swimsuit, bathroom stuff (toothbrush, 2 or more towels, shampoo, deodorant), 2 pairs of shoes (closed-toe, for water hikes and the climbing wall) and, of course, your Bible.

Most of the “don’t brings” items won’t apply to you – such as don’t bring cigarettes, drugs or alcohol. Don’t bring a pocketknife. And leave your iPod or any other expensive electronics at home (you don’t want to get them stolen!) There is no cell . . . → Read More: Senior Teen Camp
